“This project will renovate and double the size of the Lower School classrooms,” Director of Finance Maggie Barbuto said. “It will accommodate 150 students in the preschool through third grade levels.”

The addition will add two stories, 5,400 square feet of classrooms and a lobby/courtyard entrance for the Lower School Head’s office and the all-school Healthcare Center. Several Middle School classrooms are also being renovated as part of this project.

“This project will impact about half of the student body,” Barbuto said. “The kids get to look out the window and watch the progress every day.”

Exterior construction is being done to the back of the campus, but most the focus is on renovating the interior structure. While the construction is taking place during the school year, the majority of the heavy lifting will be done during the summer months when school is out of session. See the attached photographs.

“Construction workers broke ground on this project in early March,” Director f Development Karl Kussin said. “We anticipate that it will be completed by late August.”

The goal for the Expanding Boundaries project is $14 million. The cost project for the current expansion construction project is $2.5 million. The funds were raised through private fundraising efforts of the Nashoba Brooks School community.
