RECYCLE - A call to action!

“Recycle”, by artist Brigitte LIVET, is a mixed media collage (48“ x 48“) created to raise awareness about pollution, global warming, and climate change.

This work depicts in very bleak and jarring imagery the effects of today’s unbridled pollution on our natural environment and more specifically our oceans. The unregulated dumping of plastics and other non-recyclables, ocean acidification caused by increased atmospheric CO2 (a major cause of acid rain), global warming as a direct result of increased greenhouse gasses in our atmosphere caused by modern industrialization and the burning of fossil fuels, and constantly expanding ocean dead zones (devoid of soluble oxygen in the water) where neither coral nor other sea life can survive. Today corals and other sea life from microbes to whales are dying off on an increasingly global scale because of increasing ocean temperatures, ramping oceanic acidification, and expanding dead zones. All of which threatens a major food source and our very existence. This work “Recycle” is an unambiguous call to action to the entire human race!
