The retailer, which sells athletic gear for multiple sports, filed for bankruptcy in October, and will be sold to investment firm Hilco Merchant Resources LLC and Gordon Brothers Retail Partners LLC, the Boston Globe reported.

The troubled retailer had planned to close eight stores to downsize and keep the other locations in operation. But the sale is likely the end for the store, which has locations throughout New England and as far south as Virginia. In Massachusetts, there are stores in Boston, Dedham, Wellesley and Newton.

The price of the sale was not announced. Both investment firms have a history of dismantling troubled companies through liquidation sales, the Globe reported.
