She was nominated with the other assistant registers of Norfolk County for the Trial Court Employee of the Year Award in 2003. Peterson is a member of the steering committee of the Family Law Section of the Boston Bar Association and a member of the Massachusetts Probate and Family Inn of Court.She holds degrees from Boston College, Simmons College School of Social Work and Suffolk University Law School.
