Dedham Closes Non-Emergency Town Offices Friday Due To Storm

DEDHAM, MA - The Department of Public Works Director has issued a snow emergency in advance of the impending snowstorm, and a winter parking ban will be in effect beginning tonight at 8:00 p.m. until 11 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2022.

All non-emergency Town offices, including the Dedham Pool, will be closed on Friday due to the snowstorm. All programs at the Council on Aging at the Ames Senior Center have been have been canceled, and both Dedham Public Library locations will be closed.

DPW crews will be working throughout the storm to clear roadways and public areas. We encourage everyone to stay off the roads during the storm to allow for crews to remove the snow safely and efficiently. If you must travel during the storm, please plan for additional travel time and maintain a safe distance from other cars, trucks, plows, and snow removal equipment. Please remember to remove all snow from your vehicle prior to leaving.

Reminder: All Friday trash/recycling collection will be delayed one day to Saturday, February 26, 2022. There will be no collection on Friday, February 25. The Dedham DPW kindly requests that all trash and recycling carts be brought in from the curb to allow for snow removal activities. Please place your carts at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on Saturday for collection.

Winter Parking Ban:

All residents with driveways are expected to park within their driveway and remove their cars from the streets. Please plan accordingly to keep roads clear for snow removal.

1. Except where otherwise posted, residents without driveways will park on the EVEN side of the street during the month of February (even number month).
2. No parking is permitted on sidewalks. If you are parking on the street, ensure that you are not blocking a sidewalk.
3. No on-street parking at night will be allowed on the following streets:

East Street (High St to Route 128)

High Street

Common Street

Dedham Square

East Dedham Square

Bussey Street

Milton Street

Ames Street

Court Street

Sprague Street

Oakdale Square

Washington Street (Dedham line to Westwood line)

Needham Street

Sanderson Avenue

Note: vehicles parked in violation of this ban will be towed at the owner’s expense

Be a Snow Angel this Winter:

Across the community, we are calling for snow angels to help clear snow from sidewalks. After the storm has ended, please shovel snow from the sidewalk in front of your home and offer to help a neighbor clear their sidewalk if you are able. Together we can assist in keeping paths of travel clear, safe, and accessible.

As a reminder, please do not push snow into the streets or onto sidewalks.

The Dedham Fire Department has also asked residents to be mindful of fire hydrants and to help keep them clear through their “Adopt a Hydrant” campaign. If residents and business are able to do so and it is safe, the Fire Department asks that each hydrant be clear on all sides and there be unobstructed access between the street and the hydrant in the event of an emergency.

Please remember to keep all heat exhaust pipes clear of snow for safe circulation. Please check on family, friends, neighbors, and especially the elderly.
