Dedham Man William Shakespeare Convicted Of Boston Murder

Shakespeare is scheduled to be sentenced Monday.

BOSTON, MA — A Dedham man charged in what authorities called a "brazen daytime murder" has been convicted.

A Suffolk County jury found 30-year-old Williams Shakespeare guilty of first degree murder. The verdict came on the second full day of deliberation and followed a six-day trial, according to, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office.

“This was a day long awaited by Mr. Hall’s loved ones,” District Attorney Dan Conley said in a release. “The grief and trauma to his family and community lingers even now, but I hope they can take some satisfaction knowing that justice was done. The verdict speaks for itself – this was a cold-blooded and vicious shooting in broad daylight, and the jury clearly saw it as such.”

Police say that the June 14, 2016 shooting took place while the victim, 31-year-old Marcus Hall, was at a Blue Hill Avenue barbershop with a young relative. Just past 12:20 p.m., Hall and a second man, identified as Shakespeare, were seen on surveillance camera arguing and walking out a back door int0 a parking lot. Moments later, the door opened again and Hall stood in the doorway. A brief struggle occurred and witnesses heard gunshots from the parking lot, prosecutors said. Witnesses found Hall lying on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Shakespeare then fled the scene and left Boston for New York. He was taken into custody in the Bronx, New York, without incident in January 2017.
