DEDHAM, MA — The Dedham Public Schools didn’t have to go far to find their new high school vice-principal. In fact, they didn’t have to leave town.
Dedham resident Peter Cavanaugh was introduced to the school committee as the new member of the high school administrative team. Cavanaugh was one of 50 people who applied for the job. The search committee interviewed about a dozen applicants and four were moved forward as finalists, according to school committee member Kevin Coughlin.
Cavanaugh comes to Dedham by way of Acton-Boxboro High School, where he was the dean of students. He perviously taught English at the high school and Lowell Catholic High School. He told the committee that he was looking to move closer to home and was excited when the Dedham opening came up.
