Woman Tried To Smuggle Drugs Into Dedham Jail For Boyfriend: PD
Authorities say that a single strip can go for $400 among prisoners.

DEDHAM, MA — A Dorchester resident appeared in court on allegations that she attempted to smuggle drugs into Norfolk County House of Corrections in Dedham Monday.
Tamicha Luna, 22, was arraigned in Dedham District Court Tuesday afternoon. She pleaded not guilty to delivering drugs to a prisoner, possession of a Class B drug, and conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act. She was ordered held on $5,000 cash bail.
Prosecutors allege that Luna attempted to bring Suboxone strips into the jail for her boyfriend, who is incarcerated for a drug offense. According to a police report read in court by Assistant District Attorney Christopher Meade, the Norfolk County Sheriff's office, which operates the jail, had calls of the planning process between Luna and her boyfriend, which included Luna receiving instructions on how to sneak the drugs into the jail.

Monday, Luna was stopped before she could enter the visiting area of the jail and 14 Suboxone strips were found on her. Investigators believe that a single Suboxone strip might be sold for $400 among prisoners, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney's office.
At first, she told authorities that she had no idea what the strips were, but then admitted that this wasn't the first time she's attempted the scheme.

Defense attorney James Gavigan did not make an attempt to contest the allegations in the police report, but requested bail in the range of $500-$1,000.
Luna is due back in court Sept. 17.
