Flushing Program Begins Monday in Dedham
The effort will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays as weather permits.

The Dedham-Westwood Water District plans to flush its piping distribution system in the Greenlodge and Manor area of Dedham on Monday, Oct. 27, the DWWD announced Sunday.
The work will continue from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays as weather permits, according to the DWWD.
The reason for the flushing, the DWWD said, is due to mineral sediments and deposits that can collect in and coat the area’s water mains over time, which can result in discolored water, “undesirable tastes and odors over time,” and also impede the flow of water through the main itself.

DWWD crews plan operate valves in the street and open hydrants to force the flow of water in one direction to properly flush the water main.
Area residents are asked to watch fore street signs in the vicinity of work areas and are encouraged to check their water before doing laundry.
