Selectmen Hand Out Seven Liquor License Suspensions

The suspension includes five one-day suspensions and two three-day suspensions.

DEDHAM, MA — Six establishments received liquor license suspensions for failed compliance checks.

The selectmen voted Thursday night to issue a one-day suspension to be held in advance for 12 months to Costco's, Joe's American Bar and Grill, Pancho's Taqueria, Tahiti, and P.F. Chang's. None of the restaurants will have to serve the suspension if they do not have any new suspensions through Aug. 23, 2019.

Victory Bar and Grille received a three-day suspension to be held in advance for 12 months and Showcase Cinemas De Lux will serve a suspension from Sept. 10-12 after committing their second violation since September.

All the restaurants failed a May compliance check which saw an underage operative, who was working with Dedham Police, successfully purchase an alcoholic beverage.

In other liquor news, board Chairman James MacDonald said the selectmen, Dedham Police, and town counsel will be working to update the town's liquor rules and regulations, noting that they haven't done that in awhile. Once a draft has been crafted, a public hearing will be held to allow residents and businesses to give input.

"This board has been dealing with alcohol issues and this is the way to review what we do and outline the various sanctions you heard this board put forward," MacDonald said.

The board is aiming to hold the hearing in October.
