 Biden-Harris Administration Requires Insurance Companies and Group Health Plans to Cover the Cost of At-Home COVID-19 Tests

The Biden-Harris administration announced beginning Saturday, January 15, 2022, insurance companies and group health plans will cover the cost of at-home COVID-19 tests. This coverage will enable people with private health insurance to get at-home tests paid for by their insurance provider, or they can be reimbursed for the cost by submitting a claim to their insurance provider. Insurance companies and health plans are required to cover 8 free over-the-counter at-home tests per covered individual per month. The tests must be authorized, cleared, or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).  A list of FDA-approved test kits can be found in this update on the Town’s website.  Baker-Polito Administration Launches Tool for Residents to Access COVID-19 Digital Vaccine Card

Residents can now access a virtual copy of their COVID-19 vaccine card through the State’s My Vax Records program. The program allows people who received their vaccination in Massachusetts to access their own vaccination history and generate a COVID-19 digital vaccine card. The electronic record shows the same information as a paper CDC vaccine card: name, date of birth, date of vaccinations, and vaccine manufacturer.

The program is easy to use - a person enters their name, date of birth, and mobile phone number or email associated with their vaccine record. After creating a 4-digit PIN, the user receives a link to their vaccine record that will open upon re-entry of the PIN.

 COVID-19 Vaccine

Residents 5 years and older are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine and residents 12 years and older are eligible to get a COVID-19 booster. The Board encourages anyone who is eligible to get vaccinated. Vaccine appointments can be scheduled at vaxfinder.mass.gov/.
