1. Deadline to Apply for Absentee Ballots is April 5th
Absentee Ballots are still available for the April 9, 2022 Town Elections. The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot is Tuesday, April 5, 2022 by 5:00 p.m.

Note: Last day to vote by Absentee Ballot at the Town Clerks counter is Friday April 8th, 2022 by 12 Noon
If you are unable to vote at your polling place on the day of an election, due to disability, hospitalization, religious beliefs or absence from Dedham, or if you are worried about coming to the polls because of COVID-19, you may vote by absentee ballot for the upcoming local Town Elections. You must first submit an Absentee Ballot Application to the Town Clerk's office by mail (450 Washington Street) or by dropping the application in the Town Clerk’s Drop Box, located at the rear entrance to Town Hall (see photo below). Completed applications can also be submitted via email to Town Clerk Paul Munchbach at pmunchbach@dedham-ma.gov. Please note, all applications must have an original signature in order to be accepted. Once the Clerk’s Office has received your completed application with an original signature, a ballot will be mailed to your home prior to the election.
The Town Clerk’s Office must receive all completed ballots by the close of polls on Election Day, Saturday, April 9, 2022. (Reminder: Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day in all seven voting precincts).

2. 2022 Household Hazardous Waste Day
The next Household Hazardous Waste Day will be on Saturday, April 30, 2022, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Department of Public Works (55 River Street).
The following items will be accepted: oil paint, pool chemicals, motor vehicle chemicals, pesticides, antifreeze, fluorescent light bulbs, gasoline, household chemicals, mercury thermometers, 1-pound propane cylinders, and rechargeable batteries.
The following items will NOT be accepted: latex paint, fire extinguishers, motor vehicle batteries, appliances, tires, and propane tanks.
3. 2022 Dedham and ARL Boston Rabies Clinic on May 21, 2022
The Town of Dedham and the Animal Rescue League of Boston are teaming up to host a rabies vaccination clinic for dogs, cats, and ferrets. The clinic will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022, from 9:00am – 1:00pm, at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, 55 Anna’s Place, Dedham.
The clinic is open to both Dedham residents and non-residents. The fees are listed below:
- Free for Dedham residents
- $10 for non-residents
- Microchips will also be available for $10
Please remember:
- All dogs must be on leashes and under owner/keeper control.
- Aggressive dogs must be muzzled prior to arrival.
- All cats/ferrets must be secured inside pet carriers.
For Dedham residents, the Town of Dedham will be providing on-site dog licensing for the 2022 year. The cost for licensing is: $10 for spayed/neutered dogs; $15 for non-spayed/non-neutered dogs. (*A Rabies certificate is required for dog licensing.)

4. Town Offices Closed on Monday, April 18th for Patriots’ Day
Non-emergency Town Offices will be closed on Monday, April 18th in observance of Patriots’ Day. This includes the following offices/buildings:

- Dolan Center
- Public Works
Note: Police Department and Fire Department remain open 24 hours / 7 days a week:

- For Fire Non-Emergency: Call 781-751-9400
Recycling & Trash:
Recycling and Trash schedules will not be affected. For more information, please visit the Recycling & Trash page on our website.
5. Public Safety Building Updates
What to expect April 4, 2022 (Monday) through April 8, 2022 (Friday):
- The project site remains closed to the public.
- Bryant Street will remain closed this week, beginning Monday, between 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM, as contractors continue to install subsurface water quality structures. The road will be closed to through traffic in both directions and Dedham Police Officers will be onsite to assist with traffic flow and management in the area. Additional work updates will be shared as available.
- Crews will continue the mechanical, electrical, fire protection system, and plumbing installations this week.
- Piping along the second floor of the Fire Department will continue to be insulated this week.
- Installation of the exterior stone (Shouldice) will continue along the North, South and West sides of the building.
- Crews will continue to frame and glaze the walls along the north side of the building this week.
- The interior cold formed metal framing and Densglass will continue to be installed on all floors of the building and along all exteriors next week.
- The roofing subcontractor is nearing completion of the work and punch list items are ongoing.
- Air Vapor Barrier installation is nearing completion. Contractors are addressing any remaining items on the installation punch list prior to final sign off.
- A date has not yet been set for placement of the generator pad and transformer pad. The project team will provide updates when available.
- Expect periodic entrance and exit of large trucks at the project site entrance, located at the intersection of Washington Street and Bryant Street. Please expect minor traffic delays at this intersection.
- No additional traffic impacts or pedestrian impacts are anticipated during this week.
