Trial Of Dedham Man Accused Of Murder Underway

William Shakespeare of Dedham is accused of killing 31-year-old Marcus Hall.

DEDHAM, MA — A Dedham man accused of murdering a man behind a Blue Hill Avenue barbershop has gone to trial.

Lawyers’ opening statements were in the trial of 30-year-old William Shakespeare were scheduled to take place Wednesday. Shakespeare is charged with first-degree murder in the June 14, 2016, shooting death of 31-year-old Marcus Hall.

Police say that the shooting took place while Hall was at the barbershop with a young relative. Just past 12:20 p.m., Hall and a second man, identified as Shakespeare, were seen on surveillance camera arguing and walking out a back door int0 a parking lot. Moments later, the door opened again and Hall stood in the doorway. A brief struggle occurred and witnesses heard gunshots from the parking lot, prosecutors said. Witnesses found Hall lying on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the DA's office.

During the police investigation, Shakespeare was identified as the suspect and was located in the Bronx on Jan. 31, 2017.
