CrossPointe 5k for Moms in Need

CROSSPOINTE 5K FOR MOMS IN NEED Adults participating with a registered child do not need to pay a fee.

First Annual CrossPointe 5k is Helping Moms in Need

This year the CrossPointe 5k will be a family event benefiting the nonprofit organization Birthright of Greater Taunton, Inc. that has been quietly serving our community since 1975. Birthright supplies pregnancy tests, maternity items, baby clothing, diapers, formula, wipes, toys, furniture, and baby accessories and provides numerous referrals each year for medical support, housing, legal and social assistance to moms in need.

Birthright’s focus is on loving the mother, reminding her that there is hope and ensuring she is not alone. They are interdenominational and are not involved in any political activities, or lobbying.

Many of us hold our moms in high regard. So when mother’s day comes, it’s not surprising that we reflect upon the impact that she has had in our lives and, if she is still living, commonly reach out with flowers, candy or a phone call to tell her just how important she is in our lives.

But for many moms, mother’s day may have come about due to an unplanned pregnancy that has left her struggling and worrying about how she will feed, clothe or otherwise provide for her child. With rising costs, the pressures of day care, and the cut in social programs, some moms are drowning while struggling to find the means to keep themselves and their children above water.

Birthright spokesperson Mary Jane McCoy says, “Watching someone experience an unplanned pregnancy can be an emotional and overwhelming experience for her and her partner, family and friends. We offer information and resources for a pregnant woman and to all those that support her along her journey.”

If you would like to help make a difference during mother’s day weekend this year, we invite you to volunteer, walk or run as a part the CrossPointe 5K on Saturday morning, May 11, 2019 between 8 and 10 AM at Mansfield High School simply by visiting MOM.RACEWIRE.COM and choosing how you would like to become involved. An adult can participate for free with each child between the ages of 3 and 12 that registers for the event. Can’t walk; no worries. Register as a virtual walker to help support our cause.

Carol Golden, co-chair of the event said “This is a wonderful opportunity to show our children how they can make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.”

CrossPointe is a nondenominational church located at 26 Edgewood Street, Mansfield just off of South Main Street.
