IMAGES: 'Kind-Ness' Takes Over Parkview
Parkview Elementar was visited by Oliver Ames students volunteering Thursday.
Parkview Elementary was visited by a group of Oliver Ames students participating in a "Day of Kind-Ness."
The event was set up in memory of classmate Devin Ness, who tragically passed away earlier this school year as a result of a brain aneurysm.
"At Parkview School, we were most fortunate to have a large group of seniors visit this morning and spend three hours helping our young students learn," wrote Parkview Principal Chris Getchell in an email. "Each senior was assigned a Preschool, Kindergarten, Grade 1 or Grade 2 classroom. These seniors were most respectful, helpful and kind to our students. These seniors got right to work, knee-to-knee, eye-to-eye with our students. They read with them, they wrote with them, they ran math stations and they helped at PE. At recess, I saw seniors pushing preschool students gently on the swings. Witnessing such kindness from our seniors made everyone at Parkview feel a little better about our future. It was a touching tribute to Devin."
