Oliver Ames Community Remembers Classmate With 'Day of Kind-Ness'
Students are volunteering throughout town in memory of classmate Devin Ness.
In honor of a fallen classmate, the Oliver Ames High School community is taking to the streets for a "Day of Kind-Ness" today.
Oliver Ames students will be all over town today volunteering and performing community service throughout the entire morning. A cookout, donated by Coastal Foods, Roche Bros, and Honey Dew Donuts will follow.
"From 9 - 12 they will be performing community service throughout the town, they will be at The Ames Free Library, all the schools, the Children's Museum, Militia Park, Easton Town Hall, the Fire and Police Stations, YMCA, J and M Pet Resort, and the Council on Aging," Oliver Ames teacher Cindy Hall said. "A cookout will be held after at 12. Everything for the cookout has been donated, as well as, the donuts and coffee in the morning."

In all, over 100 businesses sponsored the event.
Devin Ness was an Oliver Ames High School senior who passed away suddenly this school year after suffering from a brain aneurysm. Ness was a captain on the Oliver Ames wrestling team and his death sent shockwaves and sadness through the Oliver Ames community.
