Raynham Park Near Easton Reportedly Looking to Add 1,250 Slot Machines
Plans were revealed to Raynham residents last week. Easton will likely be named as a "surrounding community."

A proposal that was outlined in Raynham last week hits close to home for Easton residents and officials.
Raynham Park owner George Carney presented his plan for a slots parlor to Raynham residents during a public meeting, according to the Boston Globe.
According to the Globe, Carney - who is one of four applying for the state's only gaming license- is looking to initially install 1,250 slot machines. Additional phases reported by the Globe include moving the slots to a new, 175,000-square-foot building, and constructing an entertainment venue, retail space, and restaurants. A hotel could also be on the docket.

Raynham Park is located just a half-mile from Easton's border on Route 138. While Raynham residents will need to approve the plans by October, Easton will also have a say in the possible slots parlor.
Town Planner Gary Anderson told selectmen earlier this year that the Shovel Town will likely be named as a "surrounding community," which will allow it to secure funding for impact studies and voice concerns throughout the process.
