2 Guns Seized During Weekend Cape Cod Traffic Stop

The man didn't have an active firearms license and police said he was intoxicated at the time of the traffic stop.

FALMOUTH, MA — An early morning traffic stop on Cape Cod resulted in the seizure of two illegal firearms, police said.

The Falmouth Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Sandwich Road around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday for what they called an "equipment violation."

Officers said they saw the driver "reaching around the interior of the vehicle," which prompted them to remove him from the car to check for weapons.

Police found a firearm on his person. An illegal extended round magazine and a second firearm in the vehicle.

The man didn't have an active firearms license and police said he was intoxicated at the time of the traffic stop. Narcotics were also found during the arrest.

He was placed under arrest and taken to the Falmouth Police Department. He will be arraigned Monday morning at Falmouth District Court.
