2 Injured In Cape Cod Grocery Store Crash

One person suffered serious injuries during the crash, which involved a car striking a pedestrian, police said.

ORLEANS, MA — An elderly woman suffered serious injuries after a car vs. pedestrian crash in the parking lot of a Cape Cod grocery store, police said.

At about 3:37 p.m. on Tuesday, Orleans police and fire officials were dispatched to the Shaw's parking lot at 9 West Rd. for a report of a pedestrian-involved crash.

Officials found that two people were struck. One person was found on the ground suffering from serious injuries, while another suffered what officials called "non-life-threatening" injuries.

A preliminary investigation found that a driver reversing from a parking space accelerated into several parked cars, striking one person in the process.

A second victim, a 77-year-old woman and the sole operator of the car, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Cape Cod Hospital. As of Tuesday night, her condition is unknown.
