500 Runners Ready For 'Falmouth In The Fall' Race

Demand for the fall race was so high that registrations have been closed days ahead of Sunday's race.

FALMOUTH, MA — The "Falmouth In The Fall" race is set for Sunday, and demand was so high that capacity has been reached.

According to race organizers, sign-ups have been stopped as the Falmouth Public Safety Team's cap of 500 runners has been reached.

Falmouth in the Fall is a classic race for Cape Cod runners. The seven-mile race has been held each autumn since 1979, and is now under the direction of Falmouth Road Race, Inc. The race course is the same as the summer Falmouth Road Race.

For runners, parking will be available at the various Falmouth public beach parking lots, the Falmouth Recreation Department, and all along Main Street.

Shuttle buses will be provided from the finish line of the race in Falmouth Heights located just steps away from Shipwrecked, to the start line in Woods Hole.

Buses will begin loading at 9 a.m. in Falmouth Heights and drop off at the start of the race in Woods Hole. The last bus leaving from Falmouth Heights to Woods Hole will be at 10 a.m. Start time is set for 11 a.m.

For locals, the race features an open course, which means roads will be open for traffic along the course. Expect runners to be on the right side of the road from roughly 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Runners can expect a warmer day for running than is typical for early November, as the National Weather Service forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies with a high near 70. The forecast calls for winds of 11 to 15 mph from the south.
