Cape Cod Car Chase Ends In Wreck

A 65-year-old Cape Cod resident faces multiple charges after the weekend wreck, police said.

BOURNE, MA — A 65-year-old Cape Cod man faces charges after a police chase resulted in a car crash, police said.

Around 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, officers from the Bourne Police Department observed a white Chrysler 300 operating on Head of the Bay Road. Officers attempted to stop the car on Head of the Bay Road near Puritan Road for attaching a canceled license plate which belonged to a different vehicle.

The driver, Robert Diaz, of Bourne, fled from police and a short pursuit ensued.

Diaz traveled for about a half-mile on Head of the Bay Road before turning onto a dirt path and crashing into a tree. He was placed into custody without further incident and evaluated by Bourne Fire and Rescue due to the crash. He was not transported to the hospital and was uninjured.
