The Cape Cod community has rallied to raise more than $16,000 for a Mashpee firefighter as medical bills pile up and treatment continues.
MASHPEE, MA — The Mashpee Permanent Firefighters Local 2519 have launched a campaign to held one of their own with outstanding medical bills.
Connor Peltier, a local firefighter, was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Melanoma. Fire union officials said he is "undergoing aggressive treatment" while also trying to work full-time.
"As he embarks on his treatment journey, it has become clear that the medical costs are substantial, and unfortunately, many of these expenses are not covered by insurance," the union said on the page for an online fundraiser.
