The fire also prompted responses from departments across Cape Cod. Here's what to know.
CAPE COD, MA — Fire departments in communities surrounding Joint Base Cape Cod had prepared residents for a prescribed burn this week. What happened was much different.
Though burns were prescribed for this week, a large brush fire broke out, sending smoke throughout Cape Cod communities and calling first responders from multiples towns to the area to fight it.
Both the Bourne and Mashpee Fire Departments confirmed on social media that they were involved in the effort to knock down the Thursday fire. The Town of Sandwich also confirmed that their firefighters and responders were on the scene.
