Falmouth High Football Coach Resigns After Cape & Islands Title
Joe Morency just completed one of the most successful football seasons in recent program memory. Then, he announced he'd leave on top.
FALMOUTH, MA — Falmouth High School head football coach Joe Morency recently announced he'd be stepping away from the program after an exceptionally successful season.
First reported by the Falmouth Enterprise and later confirmed by the Cape Cod Times, Morency said he'd resign as the head coach after leading the Clippers to a Cape & Islands League title, and a win over Barnstable on Thanksgiving Day.
According to the Enterprise, Morency cited a desire to spend more time with his family — he and his wife have two young children — in the coming years.

Morency took over at his alma mater on an interim basis in 2020 after then-head coach Derek Almeida left prior to the shortened season.
He played football for the program, graduating in 2005 and then playing football at local Bridgewater State University.
