Falmouth Ranked in Top 3 Hottest Towns in State

Massachusetts based McGeough Lamacchia Realty ranked Falmouth the 2nd Hottest town in the state in 2012.

McGeough Lamacchia Realty compared home sales numbers in towns across the state from 2012 and 2011 and chose the three hottest towns in Massachusetts. The company was looking for towns that had the biggest increases in the number of home sales and the average home sale price.

Westwood was ranked number one by owners John McGeough and Anthony Lamacchia, who attributed Westwood’s popularity to it’s close proximity to commuter rail lines and it’s many recreational facilities. There were 174 homes sold in Westwood this year, up from 114 in 2011; the average home price rose 18% in the same time period, according to McGeough Lamacchia Realty.

Falmouth came in at number two. McGeough and Lamacchia noted Falmouth’s 68 miles of coastline, many casual dining spots and activities like the Woods Hole Film Festival. There were 381 homes sold in Falmouth this year compared to 227 sold in 2011; the average home price increased 13.8% in the same time period, according to McGeough Lamacchia Realty.

McGeough and Lamacchia ranked Gloucester number three and feel the town’s success is due to its rich history and gorgeous beaches. There were 286 homes sold in Gloucester this year, a 13.9% increase from 2011; home prices rose 15.9%, according to McGeough Lamacchia Realty.
