Around 6 p.m., police said major delays were going to happen due to a "significant" single-car crash that involved injury in the area of Route 3 and the bridge. The exit ramp from Route 3 northbound to the Scenic Highway was closed.
Police said the driver travelled down the exit ramp from the Sagamore Bridge to Scenic Highway, went through the guardrail and crossed all lanes of traffic before coming to a rest off the road and catching fire.
