Great White Shark Found Dead On Cape Cod Beach

It's not yet known how the shark died, but a local police department needed a tow truck to remove it from the shore.

ORLEANS, MA — It wasn't a normal day for a local Cape Cod police department and towing company.

On Tuesday, Orleans police officials shared that they needed help from a local towing company after finding a great white shark washed ashore at a town beach.

"Unfortunately, this giant was located washed up on the beach, and just as with a 4x4 stuck on the outer, we called Dennis to tow it away," police said.

"You really never know what kind of call you'll respond to on any given shift."

The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy told CBS that they aren't sure yet what the cause of death is, but that tests are underway.

If the shark had been tagged by officials with the organization, they will know whether it was known to the area once tests come back.
