Lightning Strike Causes Small Fire At Cape Cod Home

No one was injured and there was minimal damage to the home, local fire officials said.

FALMOUTH, MA — Weekend thunderstorms on Cape Cod proved more problematic for some residents than others.

Falmouth Fire and Rescue officials responded to a structure fire on Ganset Road in Woods Hole around 5:15 p.m. on Friday that they said was caused by burned electrical wiring and a nearby tree that was struck by lightning.

The caller reported a smoke condition in the attic but, as Engine 22 arrived on location, those reports revealed that there was a light smoke condition on the second floor, but no apparent fire.
