'Possible Hate Crime' Under Investigation On Cape Cod

Police said one person was assaulted by a group of three people, but didn't need to be hospitalized.

PROVINCETOWN, MA — Police officials in Provincetown have notified the community of an investigation into a potential hate crime that occured early Monday morning.

On Monday, the Provincetown Police Department said they became aware of a "possible hate crime" incident that occurred between 1 and 2 a.m. that morning.

Police were able to make contact with the victim, who reported being attacked by a group of three men who exited a vehicle as the victim was walking in the east end of Bradford Street, police said.

Paramedics evaluated the victim, who did not require hospitalization, officials said.

"The Provincetown Police Department is taking this report very seriously and has detectives actively investigating the incident," the department said in a statement.
