2 People, 1 Dog Needed Medical Care After Cape Cod Fireworks Explosion
Massachusetts State Police confirmed that multiple agencies were on the scene of a possible vehicle fire related to a fireworks show.
MASHPEE, MA — Two people were hospitalized and one dog also needed care after a truck carrying a fireworks setup on Cape Cod was part of a fireworks explosion.
The Massachusetts State Police said troopers were requested to assist Mashpee firefighters, who were already on the scene, around 4:45 p.m. at The Club at New Seabury on Fairway Lane, in Mashpee.
State police officials said they were told a vehicle involved in offloading material for a permitted fireworks display had caught fire.

Investigators and ordinance technicians from the State Fire Marshal’s Office, as well as Troopers from the Crime Scene Services Section and Cape & Islands State Police Detective Unit were dispatched to that location.
"Two people and one dog were transported for medical care, and we are deeply relieved that they are all recovering thanks to Mashpee firefighters’ immediate on-scene response," the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services said. "The display was properly permitted, licensed, and inspected, and all potential factors identified so far are accidental in nature."

A total of eight people were evaluated by medical teams, Mashpee fire officials said.
One person was airlifted to Rhode Island Hospital with serious-but-not-life-threatening injuries, while another was taken to Falmouth Hospital with minor injuries.
