West Falmouth Harbor Shellfishing Season Coming To A Close

The last day for shellfishing in the West Falmouth Harbor Family Area is less than two weeks away. Here's what to know before then.

FALMOUTH, MA — Shellfishing season is coming to an end, with the final day quickly approaching for the West Falmouth Harbor Family Area.

The last day the area will be open for the current 2024-2025 shellfishing season will be March 23, town officials said.

Prior to the area closing for the season, from sunrise to sunset, recreational permit holders only may harvest the permitted limit of oysters from the West Falmouth Harbor Family Area on the Wednesday dates listed below.

Harvest on these days do not count toward the regular weekly limit. This extra limit is only for oysters, not other shellfish species, officials said.
