Emerson Student Shares Glamor of Oscars
The 19-year-old Emerson student who won a film contest said her most surreal moment came from standing next to Jack Nicholson.
The Oscars may be over, but the experience is sure to stay with Emerson student Hearin Ko for a lifetime.
The 19-year-old Emerson College film major won a nationwide contest to earn a spot handing out Oscar statuettes at Sunday's Academy Awards.
The contest asked entrants to make a short video answering the question “How will you change the future of movies?”

In her video, Ko says, “I think the film industry is ready for the next Asian film director. I like making films that blend reality with surrealistic elements. When I become a filmmaker, I want to set the boundaries clear and establish magic realism as an official genre in film.”
Ko told the Boston Metro that her most surreal moment was standing next to Jack Nicholson.

"I really like The Shining," she told Boston Metro. "It is one of my favorite movies.”
Ko also said the statues were very heavy.
"At one point I had to hold two, one in each arm," she told the Boston Metro. "I felt like I was having a work out. Didn’t want it to drop it on stage.”
The sophomore also got a quality moment to interact with Best Picture award-winner Ben Affleck, who told all the students to stick with their craft.
"We got so many encouraging words from these people we look up to," Ko told the Boston Metro. "It made me really believe that I can do this if I keep going for it.”
