1. Slight Chance of Snow Showers Tuesday Morning in Foxborough

Today’s weather in Foxborough, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for a slight chance of snow showers between 9 and 11 a.m., then a slight chance of rain showers after 11 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 44. North wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent. Tuesday night: A slight chance of rain showers before 10 p.m., then a chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. North wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

2. Foxborough Board of Selectmen Meet Tuesday

Foxborough’s Board of Selectmen will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Andrew Gala Meeting Room of Town Hall to discuss the following town business:

• Town Common electric signs (vote expected)
• Renovation and expansion project at Southeastern Regional
• Community Transportation Technical Assistance Program Grant for the Foxborough Commission on Disability (with Town Planner Sharon Wason)
• A general discussion of past-present-future business development with the Kraft Group and Q&A. Discussion expected to center on development at Patriot Place and public safety.
• Formation of a committee to review surrounding community impact of Plainridge
• Annual Town Meeting Warrant Review
• Executive session (Non-union personnel)

3. Sturdy Memorial Holds Essay Contest

In conjunction with National Volunteer Week, April 21 through April 27, Sturdy Memorial Hospital is holding an essay contest. 

Rockland Trust is the official sponsor of this year’s contest and the entries will be judged by the Greater Attleboro Women of Today and the Women at Work Museum. The essay contest is open to area students in grades 6 through 12. 

This year’s theme is “Volunteers – making a difference in the lives of others." Essays will be judged on originality, clarity of thought and writing skills. Essays need to be typed, doubled-spaced and not more than 500 words. All entries must be received by March 29. 

Winners will receive cash prizes donated by Rockland Trust. The first-place winners will be asked to read their winning essay during the annual Volunteer Day ceremonies at the Attleboro Elks Thursday, April 25, 11 a.m., sponsored by Sturdy Memorial Hospital and the Attleboro Area Community Council. All prizes will be awarded during the Volunteer Day luncheon also being held at the Attleboro Elks following ceremonies.

The first-place winning essays will be published in The Sun Chronicle.

Here’s a look at today’s events at Patriot Place:

• Bass Pro Shops Spring Fishing Classic: Join Bass Pro Shops for the annual Fishing Classic now until March 10, featuring free seminars, boat specials, rod trade in, reel trade in and more. You can also enter to win a fishing trip with Tony Stewart.

• 7 to 9 p.m. - Trivia at CBS Scene: Join CBS Scene for this new and exciting concept in team trivia, using the restaurant’s state of the art HDTV's. You could win prizes provided by MA State Lottery, CBS Scene gift cards or exclusive apple products provided by Tech Superpowers - Apple Specialists of Patriot Place.
• 11 a.m. – Storytime at Showcase Cinema de Lux: Meet Spongebob at Kids Club Storytime.
• 7 to 9 p.m. - Tastings Wine Bar & Bistro – Braketenology: Stop by Tastings for a unique take on the NCAA March Madness.  Instead of great basketball, the restaurant is showcasing a Sweet-16 of great wines from the four corners of the Globe. Tastings will begin with four whites and four reds from the U.S., Europe, South America and New Zealand.

5. Congressman Joe Kennedy III Introduces First Bill

As part of Peace Corps Week 2013, Fourth District Congressman Joe Kennedy III (D-Brookline) introduced his first bill since being sworn in to Congress. 

Kennedy introduced the Peace Corps Commemoration Act, which allows the non-profit Peace Corps to establish a "commemorative work" on federal land in Washington, D.C., according to a press release issued yesterday by Kennedy's office.

The Peace Corps was founded by Kennedy's great uncle, President John F. Kennedy, in 1961.

“At a time when the international community was fractured by the Cold War, the founding of the Peace Corps reminded America of the best it had to offer: service to others for the common cause of global peace, mutual understanding, prosperity, and progress,” Kennedy said in the press release.  “Commemoratives in our nation’s capital celebrate the seminal moments in American history. Given the lasting impact of the Peace Corps at home and abroad, it is fitting that its legacy be honored in Washington.”

Kennedy served with the Corps from 2004-2006 in the Dominican Republic.

The legislation is cost-free, the press releases said, as the Peace Corps Commemorative Foundation will be responsible for financing the commemorative work.

The bill was previously introduced in the 112th Congress and was met with strong bipartisan support, the press release said.
