AP Calls Norfolk County Commissioner Race For Peter Collins

Collins nearly doubled the vote total of Republican challenger Matthew Sheehan, according to the latest AP totals.

NORFOLK COUNTY, MA — The Associated Press has called the Norfolk County Commissioner race in favor of Democrat Peter Collins.

AP numbers show that Collins has nearly doubled the vote totals for Independent candidate Matthew Sheehan, with over 78 percent of the vote in.

  • Peter Collins (D) — 147,933
  • Matthew Sheehan (I) — 77,445

Sheehan issued a statement that was both a thank you to his supporters and a challenge — or warning — for future races.

“I know this wasn’t the outcome we wanted but we tried,” said Sheehan.

“I want to thank each and [every] one of you for helping me with this campaign. We can still stop this Solar project. Next election cycle I’ll have a question on the ballot! ‘Do we need Norfolk County Government?’ Their days are numbered.”
