Tom Brady, Gisele Bündchen Confirm Divorce In Social Media Posts

FOXBOROUGH, MA — Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen have divorced, the longtime couple announced Friday in dueling social media posts.

The rumor of the definite split was first reported Friday by the celebrity gossip site TMZ. Hours later, both addressed the divorce on Instagram.

"With much gratitude for our time together, Tom and I have amicably finalized our divorce. My priority has always been and will continue to be our children whom I love with all my heart," Bündchen's post said.

"In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage. We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spend together," Brady said. "We arrived at this decision to end our marriage after much consideration."

Brady, famous for his multi-championship run as the New England Patriots quarterback, and Bündchen, a fashion model from Brazil, married in 2009.

Rumors of a divorce began earlier this month when the couple reportedly hired divorce lawyers, and coincided with Brady, 45, flip-flopping on his retirement plans.

In January, Brady announced he would retire from professional football after becoming the all-time leader in nearly every major passing category, winning three NFL MVPs and five Super Bowl MVPs.

Before making the announcement, Brady said he was looking forward to spending more time with his family and that his family would play a central role in his decision to play another season or retire. But by March, he had reversed that decision, announcing on Twitter that he would return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 2022 season.

Brady and Bündchen have two children, 12-year-old son Benjamin and 9-year-old daughter Vivian. Brady also shares 15-year-old son, Jack, with Bridget Moynahan.
