Corrections Officer Allegedly Smuggled Opioids into MCI-Norfolk
Authorities say William Holts agreed to smuggle Suboxone into the prison in exchange for cash.

BOSTON, MA — A corrections officer at MCI-Norfolk was arrested Wednesday on allegations that he took part in a scheme to smuggle Suboxone strips into the facility.
William Holts, 51, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, was arraigned in U.S. District Court in Boston and conspiracy to possess a controlled substance with intent to distribute. He was detained following the appearance, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.
Authorities allege that Holts told an inmate around April 30 that he would be willing to smuggle drugs into the prison in exchange for cash. In a series of recorded calls, Holts arranged to meet with a source outside the correctional facility to get the cash and obtain drugs to be smuggled in. Holts alleged agreed to bring in over 100 Suboxone strips in exchange for $2,000 in cash.
