PHOTOS: Foxborough Boys’ Lax Makes Statement with Monday’s Win Over Milford

Foxborough beat Hockomock League foe Milford, 16-3 at State Hospital Field Monday to push its record to 5-0.

Foxborough boys’ lacrosse coach Matt Noone will be the first to tell you it doesn’t matter what your team does in April as much as it does in May, but Monday’s 16-3 victory over Milford was a statement to the rest of the Hockomock League.

Beware of the Warriors.

“We are trying to establish ourselves in the Hock,” Noone said. “It seems like the Davenport [Division] is the strength of the league this year and that’s not typically the case so we just wanted to make a statement against Milford.”

Foxborough (5-0, 3-0) was led offensively by Tyler Ames’ six goals.

“Tyler has got some great numbers and he’s our general out there on offense,” Noone said. “Him and [Alex] Pacetti.”

Pacetti and Matt Stamatov each added three goals on a day that seven Warriors found the back of the net.

“We’ve worked really hard to establish what we’ve established here in Foxborough,” said Noone. “Our boys work hard.”

Contributing to the early season success is a complete roster topped off by veteran leadership.

“We’ve got some depth that we haven’t always had in the past,” said Noone. … “I think the strength of our team is our senior leadership. We’ve got some seniors that get after the kids so it’s not me getting after them so it’s good they put a lot of pressure on each other.”

Next up is a huge test for Foxborough as the Warriors hit the road to face fellow unbeaten Canton (5-0, 4-0) Wednesday at 4:15 p.m.

“Next up is Canton who has some quality wins,” said Noone. “It’s going to be a true test. It’s going to be a challenge. We’ll get a good practice in [Tuesday] and face off against Canton Wednesday.”
