Foxborough Fire Chief Retiring In 2019

There will be a changing of the guard down at the fire station.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — As Town Manager Bill Keegan said at Tuesday's selectmen meeting, there will be a changing of the guard down at the Foxborough Fire Department.

Keegan announced Tuesday that Fire Chief Roger Hatfield informed him that will retire Jan. 18, 2019. Hatfield has been the fire chief since 2009.

"I've worked really well with the chief and enjoyed his partnership, leading his department to new things they've learned every single year," Keegan said.

The announcement means a search for a new chief will begin in the near future. Keegan said the process will take several months but the expects an easy transition due to the time until Hatfield's retirement.

Hatfield came to Foxborough from Nashua, New Hampshire and succeeded Chief Gerald McNamara.
