​Foxborough To Host Sharps Collection Event Tuesday

Residents are reminded that masks must be worn when attending the sharps collection event.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — The Town of Foxborough on Tuesday is set to host a sharps collection event for residents who need to dispose of syringes and other sharp hazardous items.

The event, Foxborough's fourth of the year, is set to be held on Dec. 15 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the McGinty Room of the Foxborough Public Safety Building located at 8 Chestnut Street.

The town, in a public notice, reminds residents that sharps must be disposed of in a sealed container and never in a household trash can or wastebasket. Face masks or coverings are also required to be worn when inside the public safety building.

According to SafeNeedleDisposal.org, sharps include needles, syringes, lancets, auto-injectors, infusion sets and connection needles and sets.

Residents who cannot attend the event have several options when it comes to disposing of sharps, according to the website.

In addition to hazardous waste collection sites, in-home disposal products and supervised drop-box points, sharps can be mailed in accordance with U.S. Postal Service regulations to a collection site through mail-back programs. More information on sharps mail-back programs is available online.
