FOXBOROUGH, MA — The old home of Family Funway has a new proposed plan that would be less fun, and potentially a lot noisier for residents in the area.

Rockpoint Fund Acquisitions LLC has proposed a nearly 225,000 sq. ft. warehouse in the space that Family Funway once occupied, 2 Washington st., something that, at a recent public hearing, neighbors balked at.

A couple pain points arose during the hearing, namely that the town isn't yet aware of who the proposed tenants would be, and a potential for increased truck traffic in and out of the warehouse lot. Residents were told that number could rise to an estimated 65 trucks per day.

Attorney Frank Spillane represented the applicant, and said the building could be divided into three tenant spaces. Engineer Bill Buckley, also representing the group, added that the plan includes space for 38 truck bays and 197 parking spaces.

An additional 121 parking spaces are including, but would be reserved primarily for trucking trailers.

Adding context for neighbors, Buckley said the plan hoped to leave enough distance between residences and parking spaces that neighbors wouldn't be impacted by the noise.

"We wanted to keep the truck docks as far away from residences as possible," Buckley said.

He guessed that the nearest home would be nearly 350-feet away.

The hearing will resume again on July 14 at 7:45 p.m.
