GIRLS’ LAX: Second Half Run Keys Foxborough’s Comeback Win Over Canton
Foxborough won its eighth straight game Wednesday with a key Hockomock League Davenport Division victory over Canton.
The Foxborough High School girls’ lacrosse team overcame a 7-5 halftime deficit against visiting Canton Wednesday with eight unanswered second-half goals to beat the Bulldogs, 13-8 and remain unbeaten (8-0) and atop the Hockomock League Davenport Division standings (5-0).
And while Foxborough head coach Brittany Jamieson-Sherry was happy with the result she was anything but pleased with her team’s sloppy play in the first half.
“It was horrible,” Jamieson-Sherry said of the Warriors’ play in the first half. “We have never been down before [at halftime this season]. That was definitely a change for us.”

Jamieson-Sherry voiced her displeasure with the team during the intermission and they responded with a dominating, 8-1 outburst to best the Bulldogs and remain perfect on the young season.
“It took a lot of yelling [to turn things around] but sometimes that’s what you have to do with this group,” Jamieson-Sherry said. “They say it pumps them up.”

It certainly did Wednesday.
Jamieson-Sherry said she noticed her team began the second half “more intense” and aggressive. Couple that tenacity with improved shot selection and the Warriors were able to net the result they were looking for against a tough Canton squad.
“Last year we struggled with this team,” Jamieson-Sherry said of Canton. “It’s always very close with them. We knew coming into this game that this would be one of our biggest games in the league. We are always head-to-head with Canton.”
Katie Notarangelo led the Warriors with four goals and Marybeth Sweeney added three. Foxborough had seven goal scorers on the day and turned in another great defensive effort.
“We have a great attack but I think our defense is doing really well compared to last year,” said Jamieson-Sherry.
Foxborough hosts Sharon on Friday at 3:30 p.m. at State Hospital Field.
