Rob Gronkowski just can't stay out of the spotlight — even if some Patriots fans wished he would. The retired tight end made news again Tuesday when he told reporters in Miami he had some words for his old quarterback.

Gronkowski said he thinks Tom Brady should hit the free agent market and asses his value, "then do what's best for himself."

"I mean, why wouldn’t you? You’ve never done it before in your career," Gronkowski said. "He’s going to be a free agent for the first time ever, so good for him."

Wise words, probably, but maybe not the route Patriots fans yearning for Brady's return hope he makes. It certainly wasn't as rosy as Joe Montana's recent advice to Brady, encouraging him to finish his career where he started it.

Brady will become a free agent March 18 for the first time in his 20-year career.

Brady hasn't indicated whether he intends on remaining with the Patriots or playing elsewhere, but all signs point to him finding out his value on the market. He recently said he was "open-minded" about playing elsewhere, while Patriots owner Robert Kraft has said he wants Brady back.
