Halloween Won't be Cancelled in Foxborough

Hurricane Sandy may take Foxborough's power but it won't take the town's trick-or-treating.

Foxborough Fire Chief Roger Hatfield and Police Chief Edward O'Leary said Tuesday that Sandy's impact on the town will not have any effect on the status of Halloween.

"Halloween should not be impacted," Hatfield said. "I can’t see how it would be impacted by this as far as we can see at this point."

Said O'Leary: "Halloween is on."

Hatfield said he expects the power to be restored by Wednesday night and cited no safety hazards in town that would prevent children from trick-or-treating.

"Our power should be restored, we don’t have any real major downed power lines or tree damage," Hatfield said. ... "I’m saying it’s still on. I don’t see why we wouldn’t have trick-or-treating."

This is relatively good news for the community as last October's snowstorm forced Foxborough's Board of Selectmen to cancel Halloween due to power outages and safety concerns.
