Jaycees Award Scholarships - 2025 Graduates
Emily Gallo (Foxboro High School) and Amanda Peck (Bishop Feehan) Recognized for Community Service
The Foxboro Jaycees presented memorial scholarships on Thursday, June 12, 2025, to two local graduates whose commitment to service and community embodies the organization's own values.
This first scholarship is presented annually in honor of long time resident Dave Brown whose Jaycees journey began in 1985 and lasted almost 40 years. Among his many projects, the Haunted House was one of his proudest and most impactful contributions for many years, and he chaired the Concerts on the Common series, a program that brings music to our community and allows families to celebrate together. Have you seen the signs around town that say, The Foxboro Jaycees Welcome you? Well, that was one of Dave’s projects.
Like all Jaycees, Dave extended his service to other areas, such as town government, helping with the Zoning board and with elections. He is a reminder that we all have a role to play in our community, and it begins by modeling leadership through service in our own backyard.
The scholarship recipient in Dave’s honor is Foxboro High School's Emily Gallo.
With a resume filled with solid recognitions in academics, a member of the National Honor Society, involvement with Bethany Church, volunteering with Special Olympics, and commitment to athletics, what stood out to this committee was how she confronted her own battle with Crohn’s disease to have a positive outcome for others: she offers support to teens who face the same diagnosis and volunteers at a camp for children with Crohn’s and Colitis. Her fundraising efforts for the Boston Children’s Hospital and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation topped $47,000, and she was recognized for this effort as a "Noteworthy Neighbor" by the Patriots.

Additionally, Emily explained that speaking to peers and in large groups inspired her to pursue a career in communication with a focus on non-profits. She will apply her skills toward organizations seeking to help others. Emily will head to UMASS Dartmouth in the fall.
Bishop Feehan's Amanda Peck was named the second scholarship recipient in memory of Fred George, Jr. In December, 2018, Fred George, Jr. lost a battle to cancer. Fred had spent countless hours assisting with Jaycees community projects and embracing leadership roles when needed to do so. Even when he was ill, he showed up to take part in many projects and was always willing to step up and volunteer even when it was difficult for him. We remember him fondly as a loving father with a big heart to his two sons Nathan and Brendan, a wonderful role model who embodied Jaycees values of friendship and compassion. He loved being involved with sports programs and saw athletics as integral to helping young people develop values and character.

Thus, the Jaycees are honored to recognize Amanda’s accomplishments as an athlete and scholar at Bishop Feehan where she embraced opportunities with the Special Olympics, Feehan’s legendary Santa Shop, and helping at Walpole's Blessed Sacrament Day Camp. She has worked at the Oak Hill Country Day Camp where she inspired young children to enjoy outdoors and sports and worked as a lifeguard.
In addition to stellar academics, State All-Star Amanda was integral to the Feehan Girls' soccer team as they went the Final Four this year and will take her skills to Miami on a soccer scholarship. Despite the demands and rigor of committing to this level of competition, Amanda never lost sight of her responsibility to service and leadership and will pursue a business education and eventually work for a company that reflects her values to give back to the community.
The Jaycees are excited to recognize these two amazing young individuals and wish them well as they embark upon the next exciting chapter of their academic journeys!
