NFL Player Calls Foxborough Bomb Tweet ‘Ironic’ Following Marathon Tragedy

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson told Buffalo News Wednesday he "feels like everybody else in America feels" following Monday's attacks on the Boston Marathon; Calls Foxborough bomb tweet "ironic."

Two weeks ago Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson asked North Korea to bomb Foxborough first with nuclear missiles in a series of idiotic tweets on his Twitter handle, STVN (@StevieJohnson13).

On Wednesday, a "solemn" Johnson called the tweet “ironic” in the wake of Monday’s attacks on the Boston Marathon.

"It's ironic, nothing to be played with at all," Johnson said Wednesday via Tim Graham of The Buffalo News. "I mean, that's pretty much it. There's really nothing to be played with, at the end of the day, with seeing what happened. I feel like how everybody else in America feels.

"No Twitter, no games, no jokes, none of that. But at the end of the day, I feel just how everybody else felt when they see those bombs go off."

After hearing of North Korea's threats against the United States on April 3rd, Johnson took to Twitter to - attempt - to make light of the situation, tweeting:

“North Korea tripping hard right now. Chill out with that Nuke talk. #uMadBro.”

And then one hour later …

“War is nothing to be played with. I apologize North Korea … but if y'all do bomb 1st... Bomb Foxboro, Mass. Sincerely, #BillsMafia.”

Intended to be a playful jab at the New England Patriots, the tweet failed to catch people's humor like Johnson failed to haul in a game-winning touchdown pass against the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2010.

After receiving instant backlash for his remarks from Twitter users on the social media platform, Johnson clarified his April 3rd tweet with, you guessed it, another tweet.

“I know some of yall took it too serious … but I have Much Respect for The Pats along with Every other NFL Team. Gonna to be a Great #NFL2013 … PatsFans i lo...like yall also. Ask any1 in my fam. Ive said TheBoro is my fav place to play-bkuz you Pats fans are Live! BUT not for long.”

Johnson, according to Graham, maintained Wednesday his Foxborough tweet was a joke and the controversial receiver has not tweeted since retweeting a message from his agent Monday in response to the deadly attacks in Boston.

“Thoughts and prayers going out to everyone in Boston. Shocking & disgusting. Prayers to everyone affected and all those in the area” - CJ LaBoy ‏@CJ_Octagon; retweeted by STVN @StevieJohnson13.
