No More Charges For Jerod Mayo's Dog Trainer: Cranston PD
Cranston Police Chief Colonel Michael Winquist announced Wednesday night that due to a lack of evidence, no further charges will be filed.

CRANSTON, R.I. — The dog trainer whose home Jerod Mayo's dog was found in will face no additional charges from the Cranston Police Department.
Cranston Police Chief Colonel Michael Winquist announced late Wednesday night that due to a lack of evidence, no further charges can be filed against Amelia Ferreira beyond the obstruction charge she is charging.
"We appreciate the strong working relationship that the Cranston Police Dept. has traditionally had with the RISPCA and while this certainly is not the ending any of us had hoped for, we do hope that the information gathered during the investigation will assist in bringing some closure to the Mayo family during this sad time." Winquist said in a release.

Ferreira, a dog trainer, originally told police that she was walking Knox and another dog around Joe's Rock in Wrentham when Knox "simply vanished" while she was attending to the other dog. At the time, Wrentham Police call the circumstances of Knox's disappearance mysterious, noting that there was no blood or fur around the area where the dog supposedly went missing and the fact that English Bulldogs are not known for running due to their short legs and poor cardio.

The body of Knox was found inside Ferreira's home in the Edgewood neighborhood of Cranston and Ferreira allegedly admitted that the dog died in her care, police said. The former Patriots star went further and stated that Knox's body was found in a trash bag inside a closet.
A necropsy performed on the animal was inconclusive due to advanced autolysis. No evidence of trauma was observed on a full body radiography.
Ferreira is also charged with filing a false police report with the Wrentham Police Department. Other charges from that department may be filed.
