Old Fire Station, Funeral Home Get Demolition Delay
The historical commission voted to issue a six-month demolition delay on the two buildings

FOXBOROUGH, MA — The old fire station and Keating Funeral Home have received a six-month demolition delay from the town's historical commission.
The vote came following a packed meeting on the two buildings, which face destruction after years of being dormant. Town officials have attempted to sell the property over the years and are now preparing a new request for proposals.
Preservationists say the delay will allow for more time to explore options to save the buildings, both owned by the town. Opponents of the delay say that not demolishing the buildings could risk downtown redevelopment, according to the Sun Chronicle.

The property was nearly purchased at auction by Mark and Judy Duffy in 2016, but plans fell through after the two and the town could not agree on a use for the property.
