Preseason Week 1: NE Patriots vs. Washington Redskins Game Guide
The Patriots return to the field Thursday night at Gillette Stadium

FOXBORUGH, MA —After reporting to training camp on July 25, the New England Patriots will open the
preseason at home against the Washington Redskins on Thursday, Aug. 9, at Gillette Stadium. For the first time since 2011, the Patriots will not conduct joint practices during training camp.
The Patriots and Redskins will square off for the 22nd time in the preseason, with the Patriots holding a 13-8 edge. The Patriots 13 preseason victories over the Redskins are their highest total over any preseason opponent. Washington defeated New England, 23- 6, in their most recent meeting (Aug. 7, 2014) at FedEx Field. Overall, the Redskins own a 6-4 record in regular-season play over the Patriots. The two teams most recently met at Gillette Stadium on Nov. 8, 2015, when New England scored a 27-10 victory.

The Patriots and Redskins will kickoff from Gillette Stadium Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
Broadcast Information
TELEVISION: Boston area fans can see this week's game on WBZ-TV while Providence, Rhode Island fans should tune into WPRI. Bob Socci will be on play-by-play with former Patriots quarterback Scott Zolak on color. Patriots linebacker Rob Ninkovich will provide sideline analysis along with WBZ-TV’s Steve Burton. Patriots Football Weekly’s beat writers Paul Perillo and Andy Hart will also provide insight and analysis.
RADIO: 98.5 FM, The Sports Hub, is the flagship station for the Patriots Radio Network. Play-by-play
broadcaster Dan Roche will call the action along with former Patriots linebacker Matt Chatham, who will provide color analysis.
Getting There and Stadium Opening Time
Fans are asked to use Interstate 95, Interstate 495, and Route 140 to access Route 1. All Foxborough backroads will be closed to stadium traffic and only open to access road passholders and residents who live in the area. Foxborough residents who live beyond the police checkpoints are advised to visit
Parking lots open at 3:30 p.m., with the stadium gates following at 5:30 p.m. Parking at the stadium is $40 for cars and motorcycles and $150 for buses, limos, and RVs.
The lots close two hours after the end of the game.
For those who don't want to drive, the MBTA Commuter Rail runs a train from Boston and Providence. Roundtrip tickets are $20.

Series History
The New England Patriots and the Washington Redskins will meet for the 22nd time in the preseason, with New England holding a 13-8 advantage in the previous 21 contests. The only other teams the Patriots have played more in the preseason is the New York Giants with 27 and the Philadelphia Eagles with 22 preseason meetings.

The Patriots and Redskins last played in the preseason in the first game of the 2014 preseason when the Redskins prevailed with a 23-6 win in Washington. This week’s game will be Washington’s second visit to Gillette stadium for a preseason game. New England beat Washington, 41-0, in a preseason game at Gillette Stadium on August 26, 2006.
The Patriots and Redskins have met in the regular season 10 times with the Redskins holding a 6-4 advantage. The Patriots beat the Redskins, 27-10, at Gillette Stadium in the last regular-season meeting on Nov. 8, 2015.
