FOXBOROUGH, MA — The departure of former school committee member and often chairman Bruce Gardner means there was a leadership opening to fill at Monday's school committee meeting.
The committee voted unanimously to name longtime member Beverley Lord the new chair. Lord is in her fifth term on committee and won reelection last year. Chris Connolly was named the vice-chair.
The committee also welcomed newcomer Richard Pearson, who is best known around town for his time as an assistant principal at Foxborough High School.

"I'm really excited to be here. I will say I'm excited to sit on this side (of the table) for the first time in my life in Foxboro. Having sat on the student side for many years and sat on the assistant principal side presenting to school committee for many years," Pearson said.
