Man Charged With Filming Foxborough Preschool Staff Bathroom
Police say Darin McNeil used a device designed to pass as an ink pen.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — A Taunton man faces allegations that he placed a small recording device in a preschool bathroom with the intent of filming the women who worked there.
Darin McNeil, 48, was arrested at the Learning Experience on Main Street on May 18 by Foxborough Police and charged with possession of a device for wiretapping, attempting to conduct secret sexual surveillance, and unlawful wiretapping. He was arraigned in Wrentham District Court May 21 and is free on $2,500 cash bail. While his case is pending, he must have no contact with anyone under the age of 18 except family members, stay away from all Learning Experience locations in Massachusetts, and stay away from all witnesses and Foxborough Learning Experience staff, according to court documents.
Police responded to a report of a shiny object found in a hat placed on a shelf across from a toilet in a staff bathroom at the preschool around midday on May 18. Once officers were given the item, it was determined that it was an audio and video recorder with a small USB connection that is designed to look like a pen, according to a police report.

Video from the pen allegedly showed a Learning Experience employee in the bathroom and a man placing the device where it was found. The man was identified as McNeil, an electrician who was hired to do some work at the daycare.
Once McNeil was identified as the man in the video, police questioned him when he arrived at the daycare later in the day. McNeil allegedly told police, "I know you would be coming for me," according to the police report. When asked to clarify what he meant, he said, "I had a pen," before admitting to placing the pen in the restroom.

McNeil allegedly told police that he was trying to film women at the sink and was not trying to catch any children on camera. He said that he had filmed women in the past and recorded his girlfriend in a bathroom.
Because McNeil has two teenage children, Foxborough Police notified the state Department of Children and Families, according to the police report.
McNeil is due back in court July 13.
